Dogs and cats have been a part of our lifestyles for so long they are written into our DNA. They are our companions, our colleagues, our comrades, our custodians; it is hard to imagine life without them.

And yet, they come in so many different shapes and sizes, each requiring a different photographic approach.

Kittens and outgoing cats might enjoy a session in my portable small-animal studio, whereas the more mature feline might prefer to be photographed in familiar surroundings. A playful pooch may love a fast-paced shoot at the beach or park, when a more demure dog might be more comfortable in their own back yard. Timid or shy pets might need extra time and encouragement to warm up to me; don't worry, I've got a few tricks to help boost their confidence.
